Jose Mesa pitched in his 968th game today and, fortunately, didn’t suck. He faced three batters, striking out one, in the Tigers’ 6-2 loss to Baltimore.
I’m not a statistics dork, but I might as well keep track of these things, seeing as I’m enough of a dork to post about Jose Mesa every day:
IP: 1.0; H: 0; R: 0; ER: 0; BB: 0; K: 1; HR: 0.
His ERA is down to 13.5.

As I am an O’s fan living in Maryland, I was watching that game, and when José Mesa came in I was like JOSÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉ TE AMO I LOVE YOU BABY!!!!!!!!!!!! And of course I was swooning like crazy every time he got a batter out, even though it was against the Orioles ;). Don’t worry, I’m not about to take José from you (although we could share him ;)). oh by the way, I read that you’re Lithuanian; do you speak Russian? I’m American but studied Russian in college and like to practice it.

Hi Becky!
I studied Russian in college, but I remember very, very little of it. It’s awesome to “meet” someone else who loves Jose Mesa!

yep :) I pretty much love him because, for some reason, I have a soft spot for sucky ex-O’s pitchers, especially if they went to other teams and did better (like José :)). did you get the article I emailed you?

I did get the article — thanks so much for sending it! I didn’t know he did stuff like that. Very cool.
I’m really bummed out that he’s on the DL and isn’t playing against my White Sox.

yeah, when I saw that article I was like “Aw, José…” and probably swooned a little too :). and that sucks that he’s on the DL…hopefully he’s taking care of himself and will be back ASAP. By the way, do you have IM? (either MSN or AIM or yahoo)
