The big talk about college football, the good ol' Big 10. I'm an ACC guy myself (Hokies fan.) While it's going to be weak and inconsistent this season, I ponder over the excitement of other conferences.

Being from southwest Virginia, rednecks are on every corner singing their bluegrass and dancing to their tunes, singing through their toothless mouths. (And no, I'm not one of them) That being said, Appalachian State is decently popular around here. I know several people that attended their games last season. I attended a few in '05 just for the fun of 'football spectating'.

Every year, my friends around the country and I play Pick 'Em for each week of college football (and for each week of the NFL.) I thought to myself, the hell with it, and threw in $30 on the Michigan/Appalachian State game figuring that I would lose the $30 and be teased about the cash betting on that game for quite a while. They were shocked. I was shocked and not shocked at the same time; it was a mutual moment of being shocked combining with not being shocked. They were pretty reluctant (and rightfully so) to pay up. 'Should have made the stakes higher though. Not sure where I'm leading this, but thought it was relevant to the Big 10 (even if it ended up not being, but oh well.)

I don't know what I would have done if you had chosen CSU. Disown you from LJ or something.

(And yes, the Big 10 is where it's at, Ohio State and Wisconsin be damned. But you know that about me.)
