Everybody in the universe wants to know about Jose Mesa’s hands, so here is the scoop:
Jose Mesa has plain old ordinary hands with five fingers.
Antonio Alfonseca, also a middle reliever for the Phillies, has six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. This is referred to as polydactyly. It has no effect on his pitching because the extra finger does not touch the ball, but it probably does make him look dainty while drinking wine or a bit of tea. People sometimes refer to Alfonseca as the Octopus.

Jose Mesa does not have extra fingers.
Thank you.

I am sure Jose Mesa and Antonio Alfonseca would love to be Colorado Rockies next season (who wouldn’t?) and, speaking for everyone here in Philadelphia, you’re welcome to them. No matter how many fingers, toes, etc. they have. Please, take ‘em.

Jose Mesa is very stressful, but I really loved him when he was here last year. I don’t think he really fit in with their whole squeaky-clean image, though.

Although José Mesa may have “ordinary” hands with only 5 fingers, I’m sure those hands are very, um, nice *slips into fantasy land* ;)

and yes, I would elaborate on the fantasy, but I don’t know whether minors are reading this site or not ;)
