Earlier this afternoon, a gunman opened fire in a lecture hall on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Early reports indicate that the gunman is dead and 15 to 18 people were injured — I don’t know the extent of the injuries.
The Chicago Tribune’s website has information here. The NIU campus alert is here.
Good thoughts to everyone at NIU.

These killers only do it to go out in a blaze of media coverage. Why can’t the media publish everything but the shooter’s name? With no name recognition payoff, such tragedies would likely cease. Yet, media would still get the full story with all pictures and background.
