Recently there have been increasing numbers of "wooden bat leagues" and the trend back to wood seems to be accelerating due to safety concerns regarding the speed of a batted ball hit directly toward the pitcher's head. And holy crap, you just reminded me that I used to be really into figure skating (not that it's the same as gymnastics, but you know). That being said, I find it incredibly boring now. Of course, I said that about basketball until this past NCAA tournament and Nuggets run, so maybe there's hope yet I'll get back into it. (Maybe when steroids stop being such a huge issue.) Baseball was my “gateway drug” into enjoying watching sports (unless you count women’s gymnastics – think Mary Lou Retton – but I don’t).
