The HBP 70s Soundtrack

without comments

Motivated by the fact that nothing is hotter than the 70s right now (it’s about freaking time! bell bottoms!) I finally did it. I made the 70s playlist I’ve been talking about for a few weeks now. (This is impressive timing for me; I still haven’t finished the “music you’d hear at an awesome bar in Norway even though you’ve never been to Norway” playlist that I’ve been thinking about forever.)These glasses.

I love the 70s so much I wear hideous glasses and Instagram myself with the 1977 filter. Fucking shit, man, I love the 70s.

You can get a pdf of the playlist here and you can listen to the whole thing on Grooveshark (except Good Times by Chic, which I can’t find on there; I uploaded it here). (I would’ve uploaded all the songs here so you can play/download them, but many of them are protected AAC files and to be honest, I’m too lazy to convert them right now.)

This is a lot of stuff we actually listened to in the 70s. In fact, I’m going to tell you something about myself right now that you might not actually want to know. When I was a kid, I had an Andy Gibb t-shirt. No lie. I was that legit. If you don’t know who Andy Gibb is, you just need to nod and say “shit,” very quietly to yourself right now. I also had a t-shirt that said “I love dogs” in sparkly text (and the “o” in dogs actually was a dog) and many, many pairs of knee socks. And I saw Saturday Night Fever in the theater for a friend’s birthday party (after the “PG” version came out when I was like 7).

Disclaimer: If I recall correctly (beer!), the soundtrack isn’t perfect. There’s one song from 1969, one song from the early 80s, and one totally ridiculous cheater song that has nothing to do with the 70s but whatever, everybody was high anyway and nobody will notice. I hope you enjoy it more than Ben does — he’s white-knuckling it until we get to the disco part.
