Dance Dance Dance

without comments

When we put music on (it has to be music you could actually dance to), Soren starts by bending his knees and shaking his butt. It’s more up and down than side to side, but I think it qualifies if your definition of “butt shaking” is somewhat generous. He switches from butt shaking to moving Aw.from one foot to the other, which I suppose is a very early version of the running man that you’d do if you weren’t yet able to run.

All toddlers probably do the same thing, so I’m not telling you this because I’m trying to convey the fact that my child is a special rainbow dancey child or anything. It’s just really cute.

This weekend is complete chaos. Because Soren can get on the couch (and now, in a related development, can get off the couch), our couch-barrier, which had served us well for many months, is no longer effective. This means Soren can get to the part of the living room that contains bookshelves, computers, delicate photographs dating back to 1970, and, inexplicably, cat water, as well as our bedroom (our bedroom is very tiny and the furniture is arranged such that we can’t close the door, which I’m sure will cause terrible issues one day) and the foyer, which, inexplicably, is where the litter box lives. So we’ve been doing what we can to minimize the damage that might be caused by a toddler who doesn’t yet respond well to verbal instructions running rampant through pretty much the entire house. Fun times! (It really is kind of fun. Right now he’s pressing his hands to the front window and dipping his toes in the cat water. Woo! Oh wait, now he’s chasing cats. Shit!)
