A Good Sunday

without comments

One of my favorite things to do on a Sunday afternoon1 is as follows: Grab a ball or a frisbee and a beer and go to a park with Ben and Soren and just hang out for a while. The beer isn’t really necessary, but sometimes a beer on a Sunday afternoon is just the nicest thing. Add daylight saving time,2 beautiful weather, brackets being announced, and an evening Nuggets game,3 and you have one of the most awesome Sundays ever.

Notes
1. Sunday mornings are for working out. As it currently stands, Ben, Soren, and Peaches go for a run and I go to the gym to lift weights. If I really end up doing this quit-the-gym-and-work-out-at-home thing, I might join them for Sunday morning runs, at least when the weather is nice (I’m a delicate flower who doesn’t like running outside very often, especially when it’s cold or, well, even chilly).
2. I don’t mean to alienate anybody, but I really don’t understand people who don’t like/complain about daylight saving time. I mean, it’s one thing if you get up really early in the morning and prefer it to be light then (in which case I don’t understand you for entirely different reasons). It’s another thing if you just don’t like DST, or get all stressed out about it, or freak out because it throws off your schedule for a few days. If that’s the kind of thing that sticks in your craw, you probably need to smoke a big fatty and lighten up a little bit. I say this with love, and because I’m concerned about you and the choices you’re making. In my opinion, having a thrown-off schedule is a small price to pay for precious extra daylight in the evening. I don’t understand how anybody could dislike that. Extra daylight is one of the top two greatest spring-related things ever (the other is being able to walk around barefoot all day without your feet freezing, which I still can’t really do because it’s not warm enough yet but gosh darn if I’m not going to try and hell yes I bust out the flip flops and Birkenstocks [ohhhhh yeah] the first opportunity I have). You silly DST haters. Next you’ll tell me you hate puppies, pie (I almost said cupcakes instead of pie, but then I realized that although I do love cupcakes, I kind of hate what they’ve become), and America.
3. It also happens to be Rocky’s birthday (he’s the Nuggets mascot and completely awesome), so there were all kinds of NBA mascots at the game tonight, including that Grizzlies dude who looks like a bear with gigantism. No seriously this is more than my iPhone wanted to zoom in but do you blame it?!
