Javon Walker becomes the enemy.

March 5, 2008

Javon Walker agreed to a six-year, $55 million deal ($16 million guaranteed) with the Oakland Raiders.

Javon is one of those athletes who just had a shitty time of it here in Denver. I hope this move is good for his career, and wish him the best with his new team.

In Bears news, the team reacquired wide receiver Marty Booker. They’ve lost Mushin Muhammad and Bernard Berrian, so they still need to do more to shore up their WR core. The team is declining to offer a deal to Brendon Ayanbadejo, who wants to make more $$$ than the Bears want to pay.

Torrealba to Mets

November 15, 2007

Here’s some bad news for Rockies fans — it looks like it’s all but certain that Yorvit Torrealba will be going to the Mets. The team will really miss his game-calling skills and how awesome he is with all the young pitchers.

We’ll miss you, YORVEEEEEEEET.

Update: Never mind! Yorvit Torrealba and the Rockies agreed to a two-year deal with an option for a third year. Sweet!

He’ll be getting his cookies in Philly.

I doubt anybody is thinking about hoops today, but I’ve just received word that one of my favorite players ever is shipping out of Denver and on his way to the Sixers. The Nuggets are giving up Reggie Evans (and draft rights to Ricky Sanchez) and getting Steven Hunter and Bobby Jones.

I won’t try to argue that Reggie Evans is the key to the NBA championship or anything, but the Nuggets will miss him this year. He’s a great energy guy with an awesome attitude who pulls down more rebounds than anyone on the team but Marcus Camby (and the elusive and mysterious Kenyon Martin). A fellow Iowa peep, he’s been a favorite of mine ever since he kicked some serious ass during the 2001 Big 10 Tournament.

Then there was the time he grabbed Chris Kaman’s nuts. Denver, let us never forget.

We’ll miss you, big guy. Say “Hi” to Jose Mesa and Tadahito Iguchi while you’re in Philly. Why do they get all my favorites?

Two more years of Dye-ing!

August 18, 2007

Jermaine Dye and the White Sox agreed to a two-year, $22 million deal (with an option for a third year) earlier this afternoon. Dye is batting .245 on the season, but has done much better after the All Star break (.311) than before (.214).

Dye’s stats for the season, courtesy of the official site of the White Sox:

Average: .245
HR: 24
RBI: 62
R: 60
SB: 2
Current Month Average: .327
